Thought on: Modern Mapping
by Beauchamp Art
Whilst listening to Radio 4 it made point a rather interesting point; unlike older forms of mapping, where key locations; Jerusalem, London, and so forth, were at the centre, with modern mobile GPS systems, all maps are now centred around the individual. Rather than going from A to B, maps go from the individual, to everywhere else.
A strangely egocentric observation on how the individual positions oneself in the world. The world starts at us, and moves out through networks.
