Writing: Charon of the Clyde

by Beauchamp Art

Goodbye Glasgow

Good to get to know you

However briefly it was

All your cigarette ash

And peculiarities

Where marvels at a glance

All your concrete

Cut in with half moon

Glass eyed windows

Half blinking

Part mumbled waking words

The sweat will wash off

The headache wane

But the Charon of the Clyde

Will remain stoic and downcast

Pissed and much missed

Even though your paths crossed

And walked away

In bold black

Back when you were new

And that’s all I knew

Surface wounds and the old scars

Not the ever ebbing cuts

Which may never heal
